Teachers of the Year
Client: New York State Education Department
Project Description: A professional development project designed for teachers in the state of New York. The DVD features two short biographies on Stephen Bongiovi and Elizabeth Day, the 2005 and 2006 New York State Teachers of the Year. The biographies are followed by 30 short interactive clips that feature their approach and strategies to the art and science of teaching.
The DVD is being distributed by the State Education Department to teachers in the Teachers Leadership and Quality Partnership (TLQP) and the Teacher Opportunity Corps (TOC). The next phases of the project will include additional Teachers of the Year and the content will be the centerpiece of the Teachers of the Year website, toty.tv.
My Role: I was hired by the director to lead the video production of “Teachers of the Year” and my responsibilities were extensive, including fund-raising, creating and managing the budget, hiring staff, liaising and discussing projects with financial backers, troubleshooting, artistic decision making, and bringing the finished production in on budget. Currently developing a website to host the video content and future segments.
